Bee Friendly: A fungal approach to helping the Honey Bee: Join Tristan Woodsmith of Fungi Perfecti (https://fungi.com) to discover the latest developments in the Bee Friendly™ Research Initiative – a collaboration between Fungi Perfecti, Host Defense and the Honey Bee Laboratory at Washington State University to support the research and development of fungal strategies to improve bee health and offset the use of toxic pesticides. We’ll discuss in detail the story that led Paul Stamets to explore this fascinating relationship, how certain fungi have been shown to confer an immune benefit to bees, our plan to continue this exciting research, and how you can join us in taking action as citizen scientists and beekeepers.
Tristan Woodsmith coordinates Education & Outreach and Sustainability for Fungi Perfecti, specializing in fungal ecology and mushroom cultivation. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts & Science from The Evergreen State College, and has provided technical support for mushroom growing equipment and cultivation strategies since 2012. Tristan lives in Olympia, WA, and when he isn’t picking mushrooms, spends his free time gardening, woodworking and adventuring outdoors.
