PSBA offers three Backyard Beekeeping classes this spring. Whether you’re a beginner preparing for your first year of beekeeping or looking for a refresher class, we have great teachers and programs for you. Our three teachers this Spring are experienced virtual presenters.
Each class offering is completed in two sessions over one weekend. Format of the class includes lecture, slides, question and answer, review of woodenware, tools and techniques.
This two-part class will prepare you for the Washington Master Beekeeper Apprentice Test. This test is not offered as part of these classes. If you would like to learn more about the Washington Master Beekeeper Certification programs, please check out the link in the PSBA Store.
Class fee is $75.00 per individual and includes eight hours of virtual classroom time and 2021 PSBA Membership. If you are a current member of PSBA, chose the “Member” button at registration. You can then purchase the class for $55.00.
Our intention is to teach students the basics for a successful start as a backyard beekeeper. If you need bees for this season, please check under our package suppliers for 2021 bees. These vendors will be answering questions after the beginners’ lesson at each monthly meeting for the next few months. Most vendors run out of bees, so order early. Also, order your equipment now! You will need to assemble and paint before the bees arrive. Always have extra boxes and frames on hand- spring packages can build up fast!
We hope to host Apiary Work Parties this summer. If this is not feasible, we will host BeeTV to answer questions, share problems and find solutions. Your Community Captains are also an excellent resource.
