Sheppard, Professor and Chair, Department of Entomology, WSU, discusses the use of the commonly used neonicotinoid pesticides and the continuing decline of the honey bee. Neonicotinoids are not only used in agriculture, but also in approximately 150 products approved for home and garden!
A considerable amount of research is ongoing as to how these pesticides affect honey bees and native pollinators. Whether these products play a large or a little part of the decline of our beneficial insects, it is vitally important to understand how to correctly and responsibly use them.
